Drag Tests
A drag test is used to assess the amount of electric power required
to drive your boat through the water. The test involves towing your boat and
measuring the force required at different speeds. A curve of power versus speed
is drawn up from the results, from which the appropriate motor and propeller can
be chosen. Andrew Wolstenholme, a
local boat designer, will give advice on the best combination and any other
relevant factors. This information
can then be taken to a Broads boatyard for a
discussion and estimate of the cost.
There is a
charge of £50 for carrying out the drag test and providing the results.
